Speedy Sharp

Price per Unit (piece): $10.99

We found this wonderful little tool a couple of years ago and it has helped our reed-making and reed-adjusting immensely. Speedy Sharp is a honing and sharpening tool made out of carbide. Under four and a half inches long, it fits in any reed tool case. It is hand held and comes with fool-proof directions. It can also sharpen scissors, serrated knives and razor blades.
  • Say goodbye to snagged reed corners because of a dull knife!
  • Say hello to expertly thin reed tips!
  • Speedy Sharp is a FABULOUS TOOL!
  • Now it is available to you for only $10.99
We at Good Tone Guild™ Double Reeds have not seen Speedy Sharp™ in any oboe shop where reed-making tools and accessories are sold, online or otherwise. But you can buy it here!

This little thing is a savior! Whether you are a beginner or a professional reed maker and sick and tired of using many sharpening stones and what?s not, this is the answer. I found sharpening stones a big turn off for me when I wanted to make oboe reeds. Why? They are heavy, messy, need space to store AND be set up firmly on a bench so they don't move while sharpening AND they are not cheap! Speedy Sharp is small (it's only about 4 inches long, I can take it, store and use it anywhere) cheap and easy to use. With just a few light strokes I can start scrapping right away. I highly recommend it.
